Senate Bill 599 would authorizing a county or municipality to satisfy a requirement to publish legal notices in a newspaper of general circulation by posting the notices on its Web site. The bill has been assigned to the Health Education and Environmental Affairs Committee. A hearing is scheduled for March 6 at 1 p.m. 

Last year, an identical bill (Senate Bill 545)sponsored by many of the same senators received an "unfavorable report" by the very same committee. Every year more citizens are more comfortable with receiving their information on line and fewer are still relying on print. So maybe this year , the committee will reflect the wishes of their constituency.
